Roanoke Island is a wonderful combination of thriving maritime communities, resort amenities, and fascinating historical sites honoring events that date to the very beginning of the English presence in America.

Downtown Manteo features shopping, activities and attractions along a wonderful network of pedestrian- friendly streets. Only a short walk from numerous unique boutiques and shops are Roanoke Island Festival Park, Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, and the North Carolina Maritime Museum, as well as opportunities for boating, kayaking and other recreational activities. Other island attractions, including the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island, The Lost Colony, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and The Elizabethan Gardens, are only minutes away by bike or car. A paved bike path traverses the island from the Nags Head causeway through town to the Manns Harbor Bridge at the northernmost part of the island.

Whether Roanoke Island is your destination or you’re just on a daytrip from the nearby beaches, the island has something to offer everyone, young and old alike. And when you get hungry, The Full Moon Café will always be there to serve satisfying lunches and deliciously eclectic dinners.
